[HD] SMART Train Debut, Cotati, Calif. April 7, 2015

Sonoma Marin Rail Transit showed off their first SMART trainset at a media event at the Cotati (Calif.) train station on Tuesday, April 7, 2015. Many dignitaries were on hand to welcome the train, which is scheduled to start service late in 2016. The train is a DMU -- Diesel Multiple Unit -- basically a pair of self-propelled passenger cars. One of the paired units has a bathroom and the other has a "service bar." The video shows the train arriving at Cotati, Congressman Mike Thompson saying a few words, and a walkthrough of the train including the cab. The diesel engine under each unit is "Tier 4" - very low emissions.
