First Train Pulls Into Downtown Redmond: Sound Transit 2 Line Extension Opening Day | 4K HDR

On May 10, 2025, at 11:47 AM, I boarded a Sound Transit 2 Line train at Redmond Technology Station. This was the first-ever passenger train to operate beyond Redmond Technology, continuing north to the new terminal—Downtown Redmond. With this extension into downtown, the 2 Line becomes far more useful for connecting Bellevue and Redmond. It’s a welcome improvement that will help ease commuting traffic on SR-520. Let’s hope Sound Transit completes the long-delayed project linking the 1 Line and 2 Line across Lake Washington by the end of 2025.
