America’s Weirdest Train: WES Commuter Rail in Portland
Keep Portland weird, the saying goes. That is certainly true for its commuter rail system. The Westside Express Service, also known as WES, is a short 14 mile, 5 station line running between Beaverton and Wilsonville, the western suburbs of Portland. The line has a number of quirks, the most obvious being the Colorado Railcar trains. We will also see gauntlet tracks, railroad crossings making horn noises, and a whole slew of features that make this line, well, weird! Trains Are Awesome!
