During wartime, even civilians lived each day under the constant threat of death. After the war, even when the air raids had ended, there was still little food and many people had no proper homes. “If it was something you could put in your mouth, you were grateful for it.” Having lived through such difficult times, what does Ms. Asami think about today’s prosperous society?
