She was 17 years old when the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. At the time, she had a 2-year-old brother, a 4th-grade brother, and a 6th-grade sister. Her sister, found the day after the bombing, had severe burns, and her 2-year-old brother's skin had shrunk so much that his bones were visible. She desperately wanted to help, but there was nothing she could do to treat them. Those days continued. And after treatment continued even after the war, her brother passed away in his 70s.
