Yoga Nidra, also known as the yoga of conscious sleep, is a method created by Swami Satyananda Saraswati (1923-2009), who popularized this methodology in the 20th century. It guides us to explore the deeper layers of the mind. To practice this or any other Yoga Nidra session, simply lie down in Savasana on your yoga mat or in a comfortable position. It's important to cover yourself with a blanket, and if necessary, place a cushion under your knees to avoid any lower back discomfort, and a support under your head, such as a cushion or a folded blanket. The goal is to stay awake while nearing the threshold of sleep. An external facilitator provides verbal guidance to achieve this meditative state. ✨Benefits: Yoga Nidra helps calm the mind, activate creative and self-healing power, optimize learning, increase serotonin levels (known as the happiness hormone), and lower cortisol (the stress hormone). 👉Contraindications: People with serious psychological disorders, such as post-traumatic stress disorder or severe anxiety disorder, must practice under the supervision of a mental health professional or a specialized therapist. Epilepsy: Some people may be sensitive to visualization techniques and deep relaxation; therefore, its practice is not recommended, as Yoga Nidra works in altered states of consciousness.
