Wednesday, Week 9: Gabriel - Night, Oil on Paper (11/03/2020)
Today we're caught in another effort in trying to define "NIGHT". How do we understand the notion of night time, night life? Well, for this particular painting, it was about the softness and indirect quality of the light, creating this cool vague atmosphere, where form couldn't be described by the more traditional modelling of observing masses of light and shadow. Tonight, form depended on subtle hue changes, subtle shifts in chroma, and a few dark accents. It's fascinating how wonderful and giving the act of painting can be if we decide to step out of our comfort zone, not impose our beliefs, and just admire things for what they are. Sometimes we think that our lack of ability is our main obstacle, when it is really our unwillingness to observe without prejudice :) Visit our storefront http://www.ourpaintedlives.com/ Thank you ALL for your incredible support.
