I earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. https://amzn.to/49cXrED 2.2lb Pullman Loaf Pan with Lid https://amzn.to/49Hzh5n Bread Slicer for Homemade Bread West Virginia Pepperoni Rolls or White Bread Ingredients: 2 packages of active dry yeast ¾ cup warm water (120° to 130°) 2 & 2/3 cups warm water (120° to 130°) ¼ to ¾ cup sugar (to taste) 1 tablespoon salt 3 tablespoons Crisco shortening 9 to 10 cups all-purpose flour Instructions: 1. Dissolve the yeast in ¾ cup of warm water (between 120° and 130°). The water should not be too hot or too cold. If it is, the yeast won't activate, and the bread won't rise. 2. Stir in the 2 & 2/3 cups of warm water, sugar, salt, shortening, and 5 cups of flour. 3. Mix with a mixer until smooth. 4. Add enough of the remaining flour to form a dough that you can handle easily. 5. Place the dough on a lightly floured board and knead it until it is smooth and elastic, which usually takes about 10 minutes. 6. Put the dough in a greased bowl. Lightly spray or grease the top to prevent sticking when covered. 7. Cover the bowl with a towel and let the dough rise in a warm area until it doubles in size. 8. Punch down the dough. 9. You can now shape it into bread loaves, buns, or pepperoni rolls. 10. Let the shaped dough rise for a short time. 11. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F for 30 to 35 minutes, until golden brown. 12. After baking, brush the tops lightly with butter to soften the bread. Depending on your choice of end product, this recipe yields approximately 24 pepperoni rolls, 30 small rolls, 3 loaves of bread measuring 8 ½ inches each, or 2 larger loaves of 13 inches.
