International Children’s Rights (Advanced LL.M.) | Meet the Guest Lecturer: Benoît Van Keirsbilck

In each episode, we share a short conversation with an inspiring guest lecturer visiting the Master of Laws: Advanced Studies in International Children’s Rights programme at Leiden University. In this episode, Laura Marchetti speaks with Mr. Benoît Van Keirsbilck, Director of the Belgian section of Defence for Children International and a member of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child, who joined the programme for a panel discussion on the 1996 Hague Child Protection Convention and the situation of children in Ukraine as part of the Child and Family in Private International Law course. Mr. Van Keirsbilck reflects on some of the major challenges currently affecting children in Ukraine and shares the perspective and experience he brings to this issue. He also encourages students to contribute to the global effort to make children’s rights a reality by bringing new energy and fresh thinking to the field.
