International Children’s Rights (Advanced LL.M.) | Meet the Guest Lecturer: Peter Rodrigues

In each episode, we share a short conversation with an inspiring guest lecturer visiting the Master of Laws: Advanced Studies in International Children’s Rights programme at Leiden University. In this episode, Sayeh Mohammadi speaks with Professor Peter Rodrigues, Emeritus Professor of Immigration Law at Leiden University, who joined the programme as a guest lecturer for the Migration and Children’s Rights course. Professor Rodrigues reflects on two major challenges in addressing statelessness in practice: improving birth registration and preventing children from being born stateless. He also emphasises the difficulty of making human rights law effective in practice and encourages students to approach this work creatively and draw on a range of available tools.
