I giovani e la scelta di abbandonare l'Italia | Elisabetta Lamon | TEDxTreviso

A new wave of Italian emigration. Similar in scale to previous ones. Very different in terms of place of origin and type of people. They are young graduates, diploma holders, or those who have not yet completed their studies. They are mostly leaving the wealthy northern regions. Why are they leaving? What are their starting conditions? Do they intend to return? How do they view their own future and that of their country? And what should change to make it as attractive as the destination countries? After much discussion about young people and their diaspora, Elisabetta Lamon and her fellow researchers have collected motivations, assessments, aspirations, perspectives, jobs, and hopes. I am a lecturer and researcher at the Fondazione Nord Est. I conduct social research on the topics of work, education and training, and gender equality. I am currently involved in research projects related to major trends of change, primarily the behavior of young people and their propensity to emigrate.
