Piotr Maculewicz, Biblioteka Uniwersytecka w Warszawie. Odc. 1/2 (odc. 40. z 48.)
"Music collections are not just sheet music, but also manuscripts and documents that allow us to reconstruct the lives and works of composers. These are things that cannot be found online, which is why the BUW archives attract researchers from all over the world," says Piotr Maculewicz, head of the Music Collections Department at the University of Warsaw Library, in the podcast "mUWi się." "mUWi się. Podcasts of the University of Warsaw" is a series of conversations devoted to academic life – research, teaching, investments, and issues important to the university. Piotr Maculewicz, head of the BUW Music Collections Department, was a guest on the next two episodes. Piotr Maculewicz has been associated with the University of Warsaw for years. He studied musicology and currently works on developing and making music collections, including composer archives, available. In the first part of the interview, he discusses his musicology studies and his career path. He also discusses the activities of the Music Collections Department and its extensive collections – from printed music to the archives of composers such as Karol Szymanowski and Andrzej Panufnik. He also shares interesting facts about the BUW building itself, including the history of the library's musical "bugle call." The second part of the interview focuses on research conducted on the collections and their users – primarily scientists and musicologists. Piotr Maculewicz also discusses the history of the collection, its post-war history, and the role of the University Library as a place open to all those interested in music. __________________________________________________________________________ The "mUWi się" podcast project is run by the University of Warsaw Press Office. Dr. Anna Modzelewska and Olga Najfeld are responsible for its coordination and content. Mirosław Kaźmierczak is responsible for its implementation and editing. The "mUWi się" project is funded under the Initiative for Excellence – Research University (IDUB) program. IDUB is one of the key programs of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, whose aim is to support the best Polish universities in improving the quality of scientific research and education, and strengthening their international competitiveness.
