Agnieszka Kościelniak-Osiak, Biblioteka Uniwersytecka w Warszawie. Odc. 1/2 (odc. 38. z 48.)

"Special collections are not only priceless testimonies to the past, but also a source of knowledge about culture, history, and ways of thinking from bygone eras," says Agnieszka Kościelniak-Osiak from the University of Warsaw Library (BUW) in the podcast "mUWi się." "mUWi się. Podcasts of the University of Warsaw" is a series of conversations devoted to academic life – science, teaching, and issues important to the university. Mateusz Szymkowiak's guest was Agnieszka Kościelniak-Osiak from the University of Warsaw Library. Agnieszka Kościelniak-Osiak serves as Deputy Director of the University of Warsaw Library. At the time of recording the episode, she was working as Head of the Promotion, Exhibitions, and Cooperation Department at BUW. In the first part of the interview, Agnieszka Kościelniak-Osiak presents her career path at the University of Warsaw and emphasizes the importance of the library as a place that supports academic and personal development. In the conversation, she highlights the special collections of the University of Warsaw Library, paying particular attention to their historical and artistic character and role in documenting the history of the university and the country. The second part of the interview is devoted to research on early printed books and manuscripts. Agnieszka Kościelniak-Osiak explains the importance of marginalia – notes left by former readers – which allow for the reconstruction of the history of ideas and reading practices. The conversation also touches on the contemporary challenges of archiving the work of authors and scholars in the digital age, as well as the role of new technologies and artificial intelligence in the future of libraries. __________________________________________________________________________ The "mUWi się" podcast project is run by the University of Warsaw Press Office. Dr. Anna Modzelewska and Olga Najfeld are responsible for its coordination and content. Mirosław Kaźmierczak is responsible for its production and editing. The "mUWi się" project is funded under the Initiative for Excellence – Research University (IDUB) program. IDUB is one of the key programs of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, whose aim is to support the best Polish universities in improving the quality of research and education, and strengthening their international competitiveness.
