Upgrading the steering on our catamaran

In this week’s video, I continue the steering upgrade on our vintage catamaran. The old rudder box and tiller bar are removed so they can be modified and upgraded to work with the new steering system. Rather than just bolting parts on and hoping for the best, I want to make sure the original setup is properly adapted so the steering is strong, reliable, and practical once everything is back together. I also get into the aft berth area, strip out the back section for better access, remove one of the old portholes, and refit it properly to deal with previous leaks and improve the boat as the refit continues. As always, this is real-world boat repair on a tight budget. The boat is not being transformed overnight. It is being brought back properly, one job at a time, using practical methods, careful thinking, and the materials available. This old catamaran was neglected for decades before we took her on, and every repair moves her a bit closer to becoming the strong, useful cruising boat she should be. Thanks for watching and following the rebuild. If you enjoy the videos and want to help support the project, you can do that through Patreon or YouTube Memberships. It all goes back into the boat and helps keep the work moving forward. https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/... https://patreon.com/Sailing_Speireag?... #boatrepairs #diy #digitalnomad #boating #catamaran #boatrestoration #boatlife
