We Drilled 100 Holes in Our $5000 Boat… On Purpose

This week on the $5,000 catamaran rebuild, we removed ALL of the deck hardware to fix one of the biggest problems on boats… water intrusion. Every hole in the deck is a potential leak — and over time, that’s what destroys the core and leads to major structural damage. Instead of just re-bedding hardware, we’re doing it the right way: drilling out the holes, sealing them with thickened epoxy, and creating a permanent waterproof barrier before rebuilding. This is one of those steps most people skip… and why so many boats end up rotting from the inside out. After that, we head to the Annapolis Boat Show to get inspiration from some of the best-built boats out there — and see how the pros do it. We’re building this boat to be stronger than factory and ready to sail around the world 🌎 ⛵ Follow along as we bring this boat back to life. 👉 Support the rebuild:   / whatskrakensailing   TOOLS I USED IN THIS VIDEO: Craftsman Drill: https://amzn.to/4t7bWRi Craftsman Circle Saw: https://amzn.to/4e9ymxp Hole saw Kit: https://amzn.to/4cOyUGs Bosch Orbital 7.5 amp sander: https://amzn.to/4tz19QC Disposable Plastic Measuring Cups: https://amzn.to/4sZ9fB7 Mixer Drill Attachment: https://amzn.to/4sSLDhh (These are affiliate links — I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
