Hello everyone! Today we're transported to the land of childhood flavors and baking a PRINCE'S CAKE (also known as KRÓLEWICZ)! This is a cake from the old days, one I have a huge fondness for. A fluffy sponge cake layered with a delicate, warm custard filling and two honey-cocoa pancakes, topped with a thick chocolate glaze. Perfect for holidays and family gatherings! It looks beautiful and tastes delicious. You can make it two days in advance to allow it to soften and meld. You definitely have to try it! --- 📝 Ingredients #### Dark Cake (2 cakes) Cake flour: 500 g Cocoa: 2 tablespoons Sugar: 5 tablespoons Honey (liquid): 2 tablespoons (solid) Baking soda: 1 teaspoon Eggs: 2 Butter 100 g (at room temperature) Milk: 5 tablespoons #### Sponge Cake Eggs (large, at room temperature): 5 Salt: a pinch Sugar: 5 tablespoons All-purpose flour: 5 tablespoons (heaped, whole grain) Baking powder: 1 teaspoon Tin pan dimensions: 35 x 24 cm. #### Hot Custard Cream Milk: 500 ml (set some aside for mixing the flours) Vanilla sugar: 1 package Sugar: ½ cup 250 ml Butter: 1 200g cube Cake flour: 1 tablespoon with a heaping spoon Potato flour: 1 tablespoon with a heaping spoon #### Chocolate Glaze 30% heavy cream: 80-100 ml Chocolate (good quality, milk or dark): 1 whole bar (broken) --- 👩🍳 Preparation in Brief 1. Dark Dough: Knead all ingredients, divide into two parts, and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Roll out/line the bottom of the pan and bake each cake separately (pricking them with a fork) at 180°C (350°F) for approximately 15 minutes. 2. Sponge cake: Beat the eggs with a pinch of salt and sugar until fluffy. Gently fold in the sifted flour and baking powder. Pour into the pan (only the base lined with parchment paper) and bake at 180°C (350°F) (top and bottom) for approximately 25 minutes. Let cool. 3. Filling: Bring the milk, sugars, and butter to a boil. Mix the flour with the remaining milk. Pour the mixture into the simmering milk and cook for a few minutes until a thick custard mixture forms. 4. Assembling: Place the dark cake layer on the bottom of the pan, pour half of the hot cream on top, cover with the sponge cake, pour in the remaining cream, and top with the second dark cake layer. Set aside to cool. 5. Glaze: Heat the cream and melt the chopped chocolate in it. Let it cool and pour it over the cooled cake. Refrigerate the cake overnight. -- 👍 Support the channel!
