Fox Den Site Selection & Playful Fox Courtship

Each fall, I try to guess where the foxes will choose to den, and have trail cameras ready at several nearby dens. After watching this footage from two days in early November, I was pretty sure that this would be the den. Dad Dox will roll around on the ground and scent-mark, while repeatedly entering and exiting the den. Mom Fox flirts playfully with him as they travel together. She will also yell out her vixen scream in return to Dad's barking. This video has lots of dad barking, but Mom Fox does not do her vixen scream on camera for another week, so to be accurate, I didn't include any yet in this video. She might have screamed off camera, though.
