Fox Mom Brings 2 Fish, 4 Rodents, 2 Moles & a Bird While Pups Watch a Nighttime Visitor

The red fox pups are exploring further from the den and sometimes going with mom on hunts. Oftern, they intercept mom fox with her prey before she makes it all the way back to the den with a meal. So my cameras might have missed a prey delivery, but from May 4th - 5th, they did see her bring 2 fish, 4 small rodents, 2 moles & a bird. One interesting event occured at night while she was out hunting. Four of the six remaining pups were sitting by their den and watching down the hill. I assumed at first that they were just waiting for mom to return with food. But, when they saw her, they should run down to meet her. Instead, they stayed closed to the den entrance and gave little warning barks before running into the den. After a few minutes of this, two pups stay outside the den and watch as eyes appear. I forgot to say in my video what the animal was, but after a while you can see that it is a deer. This encounter makes me think that the pup that was attacked was indeed attacked by an owl, or other bird of prey, because it seems the fox pups would see or hear a coyote ot fisher coming to the den.
