Steam Incorporated, Mainline Steam and Wellington EMUs (ft. DBR 1199 and KB 968) ~ 08/10/2022 (HD)

First of three days in Wellington, featuring visits to the Steam Incorporated and Mainline Steam depots. Afterwards we head into the city on a Matangi EMU and go railfanning on the Johnsonville Line, before returning to the city to watch the Northern Explorer and Wairarapa Connection trains. Several rare / unique locomotives feature in this video, including DBR 1199 (the class leader) and five of her classmates in Paekakariki as well as KiwiRail's DSC 2665 on station pilot duties. My favourite catch of the day was KB 968, a steam locomotive I'd known about for so many years but had never actually seen. By the way, three of Mainline Steam's locomotives (JA 1240, KA 942 and KB 968) were recently transferred to Plimmerton after the closure of the Christchurch depot.
