This is a continuation of the conversation between historians Alexander Kolpakidi and Oleg Airapetov about military operations around the world after the defeat of Nazi Germany and militaristic Japan in 1945. During the Greek Civil War, Hitler's Anglo-American allies actively used recent pro-Nazi collaborators. From the perspective of London and Washington, Greece's strategic location categorically ruled out its transition to the Communist bloc. Millions of people were involved in military operations in Europe and Asia. In Korea, a Soviet diplomatic error allowed imperialist forces to act under the UN flag. The collapse of the British colonial empire made possible the declaration of independence for British India, whose division into "Hindu" and "Muslim" parts was accompanied by millions of refugees and numerous casualties, creating territorial disputes between India and Pakistan, as well as between India and China. Each of the conflicts in East Asia could have ended, among other things, with the use of nuclear weapons. The Vietnam War dragged on until the mid-1970s...
