06 Roof Demolition | Finding a Gift Across Time

The roof is coming off! We wish we could show more of this process but our contractors are shy about us sharing work on the roof so we will respect that. Our plan is to replace the existing timber framing with modern timber framing. The existing rustic stone roof tiles will be re-installed properly once the framing is in place. There is work to be done on the ring beam which is the concrete reinforced band at the tops of the stone walls to receive new roof structure. Staring at the rubble filled "rooms", we are definitely living the saying that "it's going to get worse before it gets better." On the positive side, we're that much closer to a new roof structure! An unexpected treat is finding a small framed image of the Infant Jesus of Prague tucked in a stone pocket behind one of the timber beams! We hope this will bless the project with good fortune as we continue this journey to restore our cabin!
