Aqua Instructor Tip - combines 2 tucks + 1 Rock & Roll into an 8 count sequence ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ˜

This week's Aqua Tip is proof that you don't need jumps, rebounds, or high-impact movement to send the heart rate soaring. In fact, this combination stays low in the water the entire time. The secret? Speed. We're combining 2 Tucks with a Rock & Roll (also known as Suntan-Superman in some countries) and performing the entire sequence in just 8 counts. Two quick tucks. One powerful Rock & Roll. Repeat. It sounds simple until you try moving both legs from the front to the back and back again while staying on tempo. What I love about this combination is that it delivers cardiovascular training and abdominal work at the same time. Participants often focus on the effort in the legs, but it's the arms doing much of the heavy lifting. For the tucks, the arms circle inward. (Once) For the Rock & Roll, they drive the movement by pulling back, circling forward, and pulling back again to help the legs travel from front to back. The result? A movement that demands coordination, timing, strength, and endurance. Watch the video and you'll notice something else... I'm puffing! And that's after only a few repetitions. If you're planning to teach this one, I strongly encourage you to get into the water and test it yourself first. Understanding how it feels will help you cue it more effectively from pool deck and identify the common challenges participants may experience. My preferred teaching progression: ๐Ÿ”นTeach the Rock & Roll first ๐Ÿ”นUse a chair for your demonstration ๐Ÿ”นFocus on the arm actions ๐Ÿ”นThen add the double tuck Pay particular attention to the timing of the arm circle during the two tucks. It's a small detail that makes a big difference. Most importantly, encourage participants to bring their knees high toward the chest and stay low in the water.
