Working with Antique Ephemera | Flip-Out & Pocket (Part 12)

This is the twelfth video in my series transforming The Kindergarten: Home and School Culture into a handmade journal inspired by Victorian-era childhood, vintage paper, and traditional bookmaking. In this episode, I work with genuine antique ephemera to create a flip-out page and a tuck spot. Using pieces of antique wallpaper and a vintage postcard, I build layered elements that add both movement and storage to the journal. These materials bring their own history, texture, and colour, and are always a pleasure to incorporate when I can. To finish the page, I add a small, unexpected detail — a fussy-cut teddy bear from a more modern children’s book. It’s a simple addition, but it ties in beautifully with the theme of childhood and adds a bit of character to the page.
