C17 971 - SDSR Steam Train to Goondiwindi - Saturday 9th June 2012

Advertised as "The Great Train Race", the Southern Downs Steam Railway, in Warwick, operated a 3 day train trip out on the South Western Line to Goondiwindi and Toobeah during the Queens Birthday Long Weekend, using steam locomotive C17 971. Members of the Gold Coast MG Car Club had brought along approximately 45 pre war MG's for a 200km race from Warwick to Goondiwindi, intercepting the train at various places along the route.
