We Didn’t Expect Our Grape Tomato Harvest To Take Off This Fast
Today our grape tomato harvest finally started to take off, and we definitely didn’t expect it to ramp up this fast. We start in the grape tomato greenhouse with what might be one of the best grape tomato crops we’ve ever grown, then bring the harvest into the barn to get everything packed and rolled into the tomato storage room. While the crew continues picking, I explain why we only harvest grape tomatoes until around mid-July and why demand drops so hard later in the summer. We also check on our other tomato plantings, talk about succession planting, and explain why timing these plantings right is so important on a produce farm. Next, we move on to another huge beefsteak tomato harvest and show the incredible size of some of the tomatoes we’ll be harvesting next week, along with how we got them this big. To finish the day, we start getting the mobile produce trailer cleaned up and ready for opening day at our off-farm satellite location this coming Saturday. #farming #farmvlog #tomatoharvest #grapetomatoes #vegetablefarming #greenhousefarming #marketgardening #farmersmarket #producefarm #tomatoes
