I Measured My Sub Box With Crisps… (Mk2 Golf GTI VR6 Build)
In this video I finally finish the custom sub box for my Mk2 Golf GTI VR6 but I had a problem, I genuinely had no idea if the internal volume was actually correct. With no proper way to measure it, I ended up using something pretty unexpected to figure it out. This video includes: Trimming the fibreglass shell Making and fitting the MDF front baffle Sealing the enclosure with fibreglass matting Mounting the sub with threaded inserts Shaping the front with fibreglass paste and body filler Calculating the internal volume Final test fit and trimming with carpet These videos are as real as possible, figuring things out as I go, solving problems along the way and showing the full process (including when things are uncertain). Car: Mk2 Golf GTI Subwoofer: Focal Enclosure: Custom fibreglass + MDF If you’re into real car builds, DIY fabrication and learning as things go wrong (or right), stick around as there's plenty more to come on this project.
