Huragan w PGZ Stoczni Wojennej

Construction of the third multi-role frigate in the Miecznik program has officially begun at the PGZ Naval Shipyard in Gdynia. This is a crucial investment in the development of the entire region and its inhabitants. The shipyard is undergoing a renaissance alongside its employees. The Miecznik program is the largest warship construction contract in the history of the Polish shipbuilding industry. The three multi-role frigates—Wicher, Burza, and Huragan—are being built by the PGZ-MIECZNIK Consortium (PGZ S.A. and PGZ Stocznia Wojenna) in collaboration with the British company Babcock International, according to the Arrowhead 140 design. The first vessel, Wicher, is at an advanced stage of hull construction, with its launch planned for August 2026. The keel for Burza, the second frigate in the program, was laid in December 2025. The cutting of sheet metal for the Huragan, carried out according to the program schedule, initiates the construction of the vessel, which is scheduled to be delivered to the Polish Navy by the end of 2031. The Miecznik program frigates will replace the decommissioned ORP Gen. K. Pułaski and ORP Gen. T. Kościuszko ships, strengthening the Polish Navy's operational capabilities in the Baltic Sea and within NATO forces.
