Scorpion Canyon Campground is a serene and rustic camping area located on Santa Cruz Island, part of the Channel Islands National Park in California. It offers visitors a unique opportunity to experience the natural beauty and tranquility of the island. Situated inland from Scorpion Anchorage, the campground is a short hike (about half a mile) from the landing area. Accessible only by boat or plane via Island Packers ferries or Channel Islands Aviation. Approximately 25 individual campsites are available, each equipped with a picnic table, food storage box (to protect against wildlife), and a flat area for tents. Vault toilets are provided near the campground. Potable water is available but recommended to be treated or brought in by visitors. Visitors must pack out all trash. Nestled in a picturesque canyon, the campground is surrounded by rugged hills, oak woodlands, and chaparral. A variety of wildlife can be observed, including island foxes, scrub jays, and other native species. Seasonal streams and a lush environment during wetter months. Several trails start near the campground, including hikes to Cavern Point and Smuggler's Cove. Kayaking and Snorkeling activities are popular around Scorpion Anchorage, featuring sea caves and clear waters. The campground and surrounding areas are prime spots for spotting unique flora and fauna. Reservations are required and can be made through [Recreation.gov](https://www.recreation.gov). Fires and charcoal grills are prohibited. Camp stoves are allowed. Be prepared for variable weather conditions and pack accordingly. Beware of wildlife, especially the curious island foxes.
