Biography on Louis XIII - Father Of The Sun King Louis XIV - Louis XIII was the son of Henri IV of France and Maria de Médicis. He was born on September 27, 1601 at the castle of Fontainebleau and on died May 14, 1643 at the new castle of Saint-Germain-en-Laye. Louis XIII was king of France and Navarre from 1610 to 1643. From his marriage to the Infanta Anne of Austria, he had two sons: the future Louis XIV, the Sun King, and Philippe, Duke of Anjou, founder of the house of Orléans.
