Henrietta Maria Of France - WIFE of Charles I Of England
Henrietta Maria Of France - WIFE of Charles I Of England: Henrietta Maria of France (Louvre Palace, Paris, November 25, 1609 - Colombes, September 10, 1669) was born as the daughter of France, a title granted in France to sons and daughters born in legitimate marriage to a king of France. She was teh sister of Louis XIII, and she was Queen Consort of England, Scotland and Ireland, from her marriage to King Charles I of England, on June 13, 1625, until she was deposed of that title after the execution of her husband on January 30, 1649. 1 Her identity as a Catholic made her unpopular in England and also prohibited her from being crowned. Therefore, she never had a coronation. She began to dive into national affairs as civil war loomed on the horizon, and she was forced to seek refuge in France during the height of the First English Civil War. The execution of her husband left her impoverished. He settled in Paris and then returned to England after the restoration of his son, Charles II.
