We have entered a new geological epoch, the Anthropocene. Its defining characteristic is humanity's impact on the global environment. What are the physical limits we must not exceed if we want to avoid the collapse of ecosystems and the climate? How can we raise awareness of the epochal challenge we face? Solutions exist, from renewable energy to waste reduction, but every day we lose makes the path more difficult and the risks greater. We must act, for the quality of our lives and those of our children and grandchildren. He is president of the Italian Meteorological Society; he founded and has directed the international meteorology journal Nimbus since 1993. He has conducted over 1,600 conferences, in Italy and abroad, and has participated in more than 1,000 radio and television appearances, primarily on Rai 3. He is director of the Meteorological Observatory of the Real Collegio Carlo Alberto in Moncalieri. He has given over 1,600 conferences in Italy and abroad and participated in more than 1,000 radio and television appearances. From 2003 to 2014, he was a regular on Fabio Fazio's RAI3 program "Che tempo che fa." In 2015-16, again for RAI3, he created and hosted two editions of the environmental education program "ScalaMercalli."
