Cambiamenti climatici: la silenziosa lezione degli alberi | GIORGIO VACCHIANO | TEDxRovigo
The solution to climate change is to plant trees, to plant forests in a planned manner to encourage their development. Furthermore, forests are beautiful: they allow us to experience firsthand the invisible threads that connect us to nature and possess within their genome infinite creative ways to survive and spread. Giorgio Vacchiano, a researcher at the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the University of Milan, was selected by Nature and cited in the article "The World at Their Feet" among the 11 best emerging scientists in the world for his work in mathematical modeling applied to forest fire prevention and forest development forecasting. Giorgio graduated in Forestry and Environmental Sciences from the University of Turin, where he also earned a PhD in Agricultural, Forestry, and Agri-Food Sciences. In addition to his research, he is interested in scientific dissemination and has also collaborated with the European Commission on forest modeling. Giorgio is a firm believer that research is only fully realized when its results are communicated, and he is motivated to spread scientific culture among children and adults in Italy by building bridges between research and practice.
