I Tried Village-Style Worker Food in China… America Needs This
Most people imagine Beijing as government buildings, history, expensive restaurants with average food, and millions of people rushing around. But what about regular life? What about the places normal people eat after a long day? The workers, the farmers on the edge of the city, and the neighbor that is messing with everyone's wives while the men are at work? I wonder if Chinese neighborhoods have that kind of problem too? If there is, how does it end? in America, It's a bad idea to be that man if you live in Texas. If the husband comes back and catches you with his wife, there will be some cowboy action, pow pow! Still, if the wife looks like 2001 version of Angolina Jolie, then it's worth the risk. Anyways, i wanted the little local spots nobody puts in a their fancy guidebooks. Oh, those guidebooks? They’ve got all the restaurants where Bill Clinton takes those 19 year old college students to. Hilary Clinton seems them around the house and gets angry at him because she knows he is always on college campuses. She looks at him with those crazy eyes and makes him do unspeakable things to her. poor Bill. That's why he goes to college. I heard he tries to send some of the fancy guidebooks to Bill Gates, so they can double date but Bill Gates is busy on islands doing who knows what with his Ethiopian friends. We both love Ethiopia for different reasons. I like Ethiopian coffee. he loves Ethiopian sausages. After landing in Beijing and once again being reminded that Daxing Airport feels less like an airport and more like somebody dropped a spaceship into southern Beijing. Not the spaceships Elon Musk is building. Elon actually came to Beijing! I was surprised to see him in Beijing. I thought he went to Mars. He was really obsessed with going to Mars. I wonder why? does he want some alien girlfriend? He took BILLIONS of our tax payer money to achieve his dream, to sleep with some alien women. Jeez. how about fix the potholes on my street in Michigan first before you go spending BILLIONS just to get freaky with some Martian lady?! You sick pervert. Anyways, everything about Daxing surprised me. Twenty years ago, a lot of this area was villages, farmland, and low-rise neighborhoods. Now there are giant roads, shiny malls, hot girls walking around, apartment blocks, and neighborhoods that feel incredibly modern! Don't get me wrong, there are still villages here but not the kind of villages described by western media. No one lives in caves here. The villages here are actually nicer than many of our cities in the US. Later, I found this super local worker-style restaurant in what felt like an actual village area of Beijing. No fancy decorations. Just regular people eating serious food. And wow. The meal completely shocked me. And honestly, it got me thinking. Back home in America, worker food is often fast, rushed, processed, or just something you grab because you’re exhausted. But here, people are sitting down to bowls of hot broth, fresh bread, huge portions, and food that actually feels comforting. It made me wonder: Do American workers need food like this?
