Last train of the video is a 8 car Class 379 passing Platform 1 on a Stansted Express service to Stansted Airport from London Liverpool Street running non stop from Harlow Town all the way to Stansted Airport. Bishops Stortford opened as a temporary terminus in 1842 by the Northern and Eastern Railway before the line was extended to Norwich in 1845. The former goods yard is now a car park whilst the former turntable is now a supermarket which was built on the site in 2012. The station was also a junction for the branch line to Dunmow and Braintree opened for passengers on February 22nd 1869 and closed on March 3rd 1952. Freight trains continued to use it however the line closed for good on February 17th 1972. Electrification reached Bishops Stortford on March 9th 1969 and it wasn't until 1987 when the electrification was extended to Cambridge. Served by Cambridge, Cambridge North services and 1 train per hour Stansted Express service via Platforms 1 and 2 whilst Platform 3 is used terminating services from Stratford and sometimes occasional stopping services from Cambridge and Stansted.
