The VW T4 Parts Run! We Finally Know Why It Won't Start! | TDM133

Today is Saturday, the 4th of July, 2026, and we are kicking off the morning with some massive news regarding the Meat Wagon. My hombre mechanic came around last night to give the VW T4 a thorough once-over. The immobiliser is completely fine; it turns out it was just throwing a safety lockout code because the diesel pump timing belt completely stripped its teeth and slipped after getting saturated by a leaking valve cover gasket! With the exact issue locked down, I jumped straight into the Suzuki Vitara—the best daily 4x4 on YouTube—and took a bumpy but smooth trip down the countryside back roads from South Lincolnshire into Market Deeping. I managed to track down a brand new Italian-made timing belt and a valve cover gasket from Millfield Auto Parts for under 30 quid! The mechanic gave the parts the green light, and while we wait for him to come back and get the old girl running, I also discovered a wild mechanical fact today: this 2.5 TDI engine is actually a Volvo unit used in the V70 estates! Now I'm proper tempted to buy an old V70 TDI for some rapido car camping adventures. To round out the day, we head down to the Aldi car park for a quick caffeinated espresso iced coffee injection and a spot of protein, before heading back to the homestead to put the All Powers S2000 Pro power station to work. We've got it out in the engine bay running an Optimate 3 SP trickle charger to bring the T4's flat battery back to life while I clean up all that hidden engine oil. Bruno is currently taking a late afternoon snooze through the muggy weather, and we are officially on a waiting game to get back on the road to Cornwall!
