Dodd Fell Walk | Derwentwater, Bassenthwaite & Skiddaw Views | Lake District

Join me for a beautiful circular walk to the summit of Dodd, one of the most rewarding Wainwrights overlooking Keswick and the northern Lake District. Starting at Millbeck Farm beneath the slopes of Skiddaw, this 3.57-mile route climbs over Doups before gaining the open fellside at White Stones. From there, the route traverses across to Long Doors before making the final ascent to the summit of Dodd, where spectacular views stretch across Derwentwater, Keswick, Bassenthwaite Lake and the surrounding Lakeland fells. Despite its modest height, Dodd offers some of the finest viewpoints in the Northern Fells. Looking south, Derwentwater shines beneath the peaks of Borrowdale, while to the north Bassenthwaite Lake stretches away towards the edge of the National Park. Along the way, there are constant reminders of why this corner of Lakeland is so loved. The descent follows quiet paths through Lyzzick Wood, adding a completely different character to the walk and creating a varied route that combines open fellside, dramatic viewpoints and peaceful woodland trails.
