[Rekimeshi], or "Historical Recreation Meals," recreates historical food cultures in the modern age. Today, we've recreated the meals soldiers ate on the battlefield during the Russo-Japanese War. The Russo-Japanese War took place from 1904 to 1905. What kind of meals sustained the soldiers of the Imperial Japanese Army and the Russian Imperial Army on the brutal battlefields of Manchuria and the Korean Peninsula? Preservation, portability, and nutritional value. Each meal, tailored to the food culture and climate of each country, reflected the logistical considerations of the soldiers.
