[Rekimeshi], or "Historical Recreation Meals," recreates historical food cultures in the modern age. Today, we've recreated a day's worth of meals eaten by the firefighters who risked their lives to protect Edo from fires. As the saying goes, "Fires and fights are the flowers of Edo," in Edo, a city where a single fire could reduce the entire town to ashes, the firefighters single-handedly contained the flames. With their extraordinary physical abilities honed at high altitudes and their overwhelming courage that showed no fear of death, they were idols and great stars for the people of Edo.
