From Tres Cruces to Roosevelt Park in 23 minutes. That's what AeroMet is proposing. Within three years, Montevideo could have an innovative railway operating capable of connecting the Tres Cruces terminal with Roosevelt Park in just over 20 minutes. This is a solution that the private sector is joining in the discussion on the reform of the metropolitan passenger transportation system. What's striking in this case is the different technology from those previously discussed: an elevated train, which, according to its proponents, minimizes environmental impact, offers significant advantages during the construction phase, and creates a linear park beneath it. It is being promoted by the Aeromet consortium, made up of the Uruguayan companies Berkes and Teyma, and the Brazilian company Aerom, which is in talks with Uruguayan national government authorities and the municipalities of Montevideo, Canelones, and San José. In addition to the first section, which would run along Avenida Italia and Gianattasio, the proposal includes extensions with other technologies that would connect Plaza Independencia with Route 102 and, via Avenida 8 de Octubre, reach Zonamérica.
