Jewels of the Stone Age | The Meaning Behind Grendels
Small objects often carried great meaning in the Stone Age. In this video, I explore the use of deer grendels - the small canine teeth found in deer - which appear again and again in prehistoric contexts, often careful drilled and worn as ornaments. These are not just decorative pieces. Their repeated presence in archaeological finds suggests they held significance, perhaps as symbols of identity, status, or connection to the animal itself. Using traditional methods, I demonstrate how these grendels can be drilled using a flint-tipped hand drill, and how sinew cordage can be made and used to attach them to a buckskin pouch. This process gives a small insight into the time, skill and intention behind objects that, at first glance, might seem simple. š Explore Primitive Materials & Cordage: Ā Ā Ā ā¢Ā PrimitiveĀ MaterialsĀ &Ā CordageĀ Ā š Watch more flint knapping here: Ā Ā Ā ā¢Ā FlintĀ KnappingĀ -Ā FromĀ FirstĀ FlakeĀ toĀ Maste...Ā Ā
