This Ugly Stone Hid a Beautiful Dagger
This video follows the complete flintknapping journey of a prehistoric dagger, start to finish - from an unpromising, ugly-looking stone to a finished blade with hidden colour, character, and intention. As the stone is worked, its true nature begins to reveal itself: banded colours, movement, and life that simply wasn't visible at the start. Once the blade is complete, it is paired with a hand carved and polished boxwood handle, carefully following the natural grain so that it echoes the swirling patterns in the stone. The blade is then set using traditional pine pitch glue, completing a tool that feels as much grown as it is made. This is a slow, focused, start-to-finish build - the same format as a previous dagger video that went on to reach over five million views - and it's one of the most satisfying pieces I've made. If you enjoy longform, immersive prehistoric craft, you're very welcome here. This dagger will be gifted to one of my YouTube members.
