Sound familiar? In this morning prayer we follow one thread through three places in Scripture and let it answer the stress you woke up with. We begin with Psalm 5:3, where David lays his requests before God each morning and waits expectantly; then to the hillside in Matthew 6, where Jesus points to the birds and the lilies and asks whether worry ever added a single hour to anyone's life; and finally to Philippians 4, where Paul shows us the trade — hand over the worry, and the peace of God stands guard over your mind. This is a prayer to stop white-knuckling the day and start it by laying it down, looking up, and letting His peace guard your heart. Scriptures in this prayer: John 14:27 (NLT) — "I am leaving you with a gift — peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don't be troubled or afraid." His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus."
