Valley of the Waters | Empress & Sylvia Falls to the Secret Asmodeus Pool – Blue Mountains Adventure
Waterfalls thunder through rainforest canyons, sunlight dances across ferns, and clear pools shimmer beneath towering cliffs. From Empress Falls and Sylvia Falls to the hidden Floras Bath Waterfall and the secret Asmodeus Pool, the Valley of the Waters and Nature Track at Wentworth Falls are pure Blue Mountains magic — and if you visit early, you just might have these incredible places all to yourself. Starting from the Conservation Hut, this classic Blue Mountains walk plunges straight into a lush, mist-filled valley where steep sandstone steps lead to a chain of waterfalls that seem to tumble forever. There are plenty of steps to go down — and just as many to climb back up — giving the heart a solid workout and rewarding every drop of effort with breathtaking views along the way. We wander between cliff-top lookouts and dripping rainforest ledges, pausing at Empress Falls, where canyoners abseil down the thundering cascade into the pool below — one of the most iconic sights in the mountains. Further along, we visit the graceful Sylvia Falls, possibly the most spectacular cascade in the entire Blue Mountains, its broad fan of water spilling endlessly over tiered sandstone ledges. From here we return the way we came before continuing along the Nature Track, a quieter section of trail that winds through shaded gullies and past the pretty Isobel Falls. A short distance further, the path crosses a high bridge spanning Empress Canyon, offering a dramatic view straight down into the gorge below — a vertigo-inducing glimpse of canyoners navigating the narrow, water-filled chasm far beneath your feet. From there, we take a short detour to the hidden Floras Bath Waterfall, a tranquil rock pool framed by moss and ferns, before finally reaching the secret Asmodeus Pool, a deep, crystal-clear basin tucked beneath towering sandstone cliffs — the perfect wild swimming spot for those who know where to look. The Valley of the Waters and Nature Track capture everything the Blue Mountains are famous for: rainforest, rushing creeks, narrow stone staircases, and the constant sound of falling water. It’s a short but spectacular adventure, rich with colour, texture and atmosphere — one that feels truly alive from start to finish. This circuit begins and ends at the Conservation Hut and covers roughly three to five kilometres, depending on side detours. The track is steep in parts and slippery after rain, so wear sturdy shoes, carry water, and check local park alerts before heading out. Once you descend into the valley, take your time — this is a walk to savour, not rush. Please, don't leave rubbish behind. Map to the starting point here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/Mb3VK2rhJZSc2...
