No Car Needed! Centennial Glen Loop Walk to The Grotto and other waterfalls – Blackheath NSW

Looking for an easy Blue Mountains waterfall walk you can start straight from a train station? This Centennial Glen Loop Walk from Blackheath Station combines waterfalls, wild swimming, rainforest gullies and clifftop views — all in under half a day, and all without needing a car. When you get off the train at Blackheath, simply walk up the stairs from the platform, turn right, and head down the next set of stairs toward the commuter carpark. Cross the road and turn left, following the brown walking-track signs pointing toward Centennial Glen. At Bundarra Street, turn right and follow it all the way to the end. It becomes a dirt road, and just a short 700-metre stroll from the station brings you to the start of the walking track. We descend into Centennial Glen, following a well-marked track toward Centennial Glen Falls and the famous Grotto — a sheltered oasis with clear, cool water that’s perfect for a refreshing dip on a warm day. Rather than continuing deeper toward Slippery Dip Falls, we turn around here and begin the steady climb out of the gully toward the Centennial Glen carpark, where you’ll find public toilets and a good spot to take a breather. After a quick stop at the carpark, we retrace our steps a short distance down the track to pick up the Clifftop Track, which delivers beautiful views across the Kanimbla Valley before returning us to the small cascade we visited near the start of the walk. From here, we climb back up the same set of stairs we descended earlier, then follow Bundarra Street back to Blackheath Station — a perfect, train-accessible loop for visitors and locals exploring the Mountains without a car. Whether you’re chasing waterfalls, looking for a family-friendly adventure, or wanting a relaxed train-to-trail experience, the Centennial Glen Loop Walk is one of Blackheath’s best short escapes.
