LIRR Memorial Day Railfanning in Mastic Feat. WB Cannonball Express #8717

Originally was expecting it to rain hard so wasn't planning on going out. However, it ended up being dry for most of the day so I did end up going out! Only major disappointment on this day is that I overslept and missed the 12-car set on westbound train #8703 :/. However, for its first 2016 run, WB Train #8705 had 10 cars so I was happy to see that! Another notable catch was WB Train #8711 which its inaugural run was also on this day and for the first time, it actually terminates at Long Island City instead of Jamaica! It is quite rare for a weekend diesel train to terminate west of Jamaica, except the Cannonball of course. DM30AC 520 lead the Cannonball west through Mastic-Shirley Train Station and unfortunately this DM's horn has also been choked recently so it doesn't sound the best, but still a pretty nice catch! Also, DM30AC 521's K5LLA is choked as well and it is quite noticeable as you will see in my shot of EB #8736. The following trains were videotaped at the Mastic Rd. Railroad Crossing about 1/4 mile east of Mastic-Shirley Train Station: #8705, #8707, #8736, #8743, and #8715.
