Homemade Tool Post Grinder - part 2 (completing clamp)

The next natural project for me is to make a tool post grinder to use in my Colchester Student lathe. I also have the need for a cutter grinder and so the thought occurred that, perhaps, I could design a tool post spindle and drive which could also be included in a cutter grinder. If I had sufficient space in my workshop I probable would have looked for a Clarkson Cutter Grinder to refurbish and focussed instead on making just the tool post grinder. Taking all things into account designing my own combination machine seemed to be a reasonable proposition. In part 2, I start I continue to make the clamp which holds the spindle. Since I don't have a DRO on my mill I use gauge blocks and a DTI to accurately centre drill the bolt holes before mounting on a faceplate for final boring to size. The 'yoke' which holds the clamp in the lathe's four-way tool post is welded up from 30x15mm steel. Since I am a novice welder and my welder is on the small side I first made a trial joint. Based on the moderate success of this I increase the size of the fillets and weld up the real item.
