DRONE BRONTANAX : UN NUOVO ALLEATO PER IL CACCIA di SESTA GENERAZIONE ?

The GCAP program, dedicated to the development of Italy, Japan, and the United Kingdom's future sixth-generation fighter, welcomed Canada as its first observer country. This status does not equate to full participation, but it allows Ottawa to more closely monitor the project's governance, requirements, and development. Future participation could also include industrial and financial contributions, with CAE among the leading Canadian entities potentially involved. Meanwhile, BAE Systems presented the Brontanax at Farnborough, a new Collaborative Combat Aircraft intended for the British Storm Fighter program. The wingman drone, whose name derives from ancient Greek and means "Thunder King," was developed by FalconWorks with the involvement of over 500 employees and more than 75 companies. According to BAE Systems, the Brontanax could offer 70-80% of the Typhoon's capabilities at 20-25% less cost. The platform is designed for electronic warfare and precision strikes, features an internal weapons bay, open architecture, and a modular configuration. The prototype uses a Williams engine, while the future version is expected to adopt a Rolls-Royce Orpheus.
