ASTORE LEVANTE : IL NUOVO DRONE DELLE FORZE ARMATE ITALIANE

Today we're discussing two important developments for the Italian defense industry: the Astore Levante drone and the FREMM EVO frigates destined for Portugal. Presented at the Farnborough International Airshow, the Astore Levante is the result of a collaboration between Leonardo and Baykar. The platform is derived from the Bayraktar TB3, a naval drone with folding wings, capable of taking off and landing on ships with short flight decks. The aircraft retains the TB3's main characteristics but integrates Leonardo sensors and mission systems. Proposed equipment includes the BriteStorm electronic warfare system, the Gabbiano T-80 Ultra Light and Osprey 30 radars, and the ULISSES radar for anti-submarine missions. Production would be handled by Leonardo's Ronchi dei Legionari plant. Portugal will purchase three Italian FREMM EVO frigates through a program valued at approximately €3.9 billion, including construction, logistics support, maintenance, and technology transfer. The frigates will have a displacement of 6,500 tons, Kronos Dual Band radar, CAPTAS-4 towed sonar, and 32 vertical missile cells, including Aster 30 B1NTs. They will also be able to embark two SH-90 helicopters and unmanned systems. They will be built after the two units already planned for the Italian Navy. #AstoreLevante #Leonardo #Baykar #BayraktarTB3 #MilitaryDrone #UCAV #MarinaMilitare #AeronauticaMilitare #IndustriaDellaDifesa #DifesaItaliana #FarnboroughAirshow #GuerraElettronica #BriteStorm #ULISSES #FREMMEVO #FREMM #Fincantieri #Portugal #PortugueseNavy #KronosDualBand #Aster30 #CAPTAS4 #TecnologiaMilitare
