Site 6C | SOI Divestream 953 - Part 2

This 12-hour dive at Site 6C will focus on bubble streams detected on a collapsed(?) mound during mapping on this expedition, but which have not been visually confirmed. These bubble streams may represent unknown and unexplored seeps. Specifically, the dive will begin on the flat sedimented seafloor, then climb onto the remaining mound areas, passing through several bubble targets. On the mound, seepage has been detected on the western flank. After this, the areas of collapse(?) will be explored. Signs of seepage/fluid flow/bubbles and/or high-density animal communities will be sought along the dive track. The dive will undertake scientific exploration, measurements with the temperature probe and heat flow probe, video transects, as well as biological and Niskin sampling.
