Site 7B | SOI Divestream 957

This 7-hour dive at Site 7B will focus on exploring the continental shelf/upper continental slope east of Trinidad. This area has not been scientifically explored before. Specifically, this dive will explore bubble streams detected during mapping on this expedition, but which have not been visually confirmed. These bubble streams may represent unknown and unexplored seeps. Additionally, the surrounding seafloor will be explored. The dive will conduct visual observations, including of seepage/fluid flow/bubbles and/or high-density animal communities, including seep communities and coral-sponge gardens. Biological samples, Niskin samples, and a heat flow measurement will be collected opportunistically. Video transects will be conducted.
